If you look at the top right hand corner of the ad you see the Anycall logo. If you remember from before, Anycall is the cellphone department for Samsung specifically in Korea. LG also uses a different brand for their phones in Korea. Cyon is the name of their brand. As you know in most asian cultures, buying brand name merchandise is a big thing. A status symbol in a society where everyone wants to be on top. With this Anycall brand comes a lot of brand loyalty. All my cousins who originally had a Anycall phone only buy Anycall. While Some of my friends in Korea flip flop from one phone to another based on the current popularity.
Samsung has gone even further by creating the AMOLED brands. If you look at the middle of this picture you see the AMOLED symbol. They want people to know that this phone is a AMOLED phone so they created a very noticeable logo different from the other 2. They didn't really do this for the Haptic phones so it seems to be a new tactic by Samsung.
Samsung is a worldwide brand and if your Korean, your more likely to by Samsung. Loyalty to the brand goes further back then customer satisfaction. It's the fact that a company from their home nation is doing so well and becoming leaders of technology. Samsung was once the only distributor of the HD chip used in our high-def T.Vs.
Gold Medal figure skater Yuna Kim has turned herself into a brand. After putting her name on a Haptic phone, it was the most purchased phone in Korean history. Recently she participated in a ice skating show and instead of calling it Fiesta on Ice which was the actual title of the show, people called it Yuna's Fiesta on ice. Her popularity has turned her into a brand in South Korea and I can't wait until the 2 brands work together again to release another phone.
